Fast Weight Loss – Can It Be Done?

Average weight loss plans aspire to shed a couple pounds a week. This tactic is practiced in order to keep the metabolism from being shocked into storing fat, which is a survival method used by the body to combat excessive and rapid weight loss.

Quick weight loss is only for a few

Rapid weight loss is not really for someone seeking to shed a few pounds in the name of vanity. Quick weight loss is only endorsed when an individual is past the point of being overweight and can be classified as obese.

How they do it

Diets such as Medifast often attempt to provide a significant amount of nutrients to the user, while allowing the individual to lose weight.  This diet in particular is highly recommended by physicians, and is renowned for its effectiveness. (Review). Other diets whose main purpose is to expedite the process of weight loss usually focus on reducing caloric intake. Medical advice is encouraged when dabbling in diets very low in caloric intake. Diets such as these often include some type of food replacement medium, and are usually difficult to maintain.

Fast is not always good

Nutritional complications can arise from diets that are extremely low in calories, thus making fast weight loss considerably risky. Emotional problems tend to arise when caloric intake is decreased. The chance of your metabolism being lowered is also a risk. The metabolism’s efficiency being decreased can result in a yo-yo pattern being formed in your weight loss behavior.

Precautions

Quick weight loss is generally only encouraged if the individual is obese, or the person has a BMI of thirty or higher. Many diets low in calorie require checking with a doctor first, but others like the previously stated, Medifast, may not require authorization.

False claims

Beware of popular diets that claim impressive results. Remember that they are a business and will profit from you purchasing their product, and they will tell you what you want to hear, in order for that to happen. Be realistic and most importantly be safe.
