Samples of Fad Diets
Hollywood Diet – this type of diet plan lets you lose 10 pounds in only two days. That’s five pounds every 24 hours. The Hollywood Diet lets you drink a specific formula of juice made of different fruits. The juice is dubbed as "miraculous" because it has the ability to flush out bad cholesterols fast. But if you examine it clearly, this type of weight loss is basically a detoxification technique which, if you have a healthy body will never work.
Grapefruit Diet – from the name itself, this type of diet consists of a set of meals with a grapefruit in every meal. Usually, the grapefruit diet program has a seven-day time frame. There is also a 21-day time frame but it is basically an extended version of the former. The grapefruit in every diet program is very good which is also applicable in this case. However, the meal that comes with the grapefruit will let you go on a very strict low calorie diet plan, which is known to be a "yo-yo" diet plan.
Cabbage Soup Diet – This type of fad started in the late 90s and has caught wide media attention because of the drastic weight loss claims by its advocates. As the name suggests, this seven day diet plan is all about cabbage. From day one to seven, the meals will only consist of cabbage soup. This type of diet apparently is very effective but only for short term weight loss and it doesn’t have permanent effects.
Results May Vary
These fad diets didn’t become popular for no reason. Someone has literally followed this diet to the last letter and have found them to be very effective. Because of this, it could be effective for some people but not necessarily for everyone. Most of these diet plans only become popular with media hype but they often comes with an asterisk (*) telling you that results are not guaranteed and may vary.
Some of these diets may even lead you to health problems because it will drastically lower your body weight but along with it is the energy in your body. Calories are still energy sources that are burned whenever we need to move. Although one of these fad diet programs maybe effective to you, nothing is safer and more effective compared to a diet that consists of a well-followed exercise program combined with healthy eating. This weight loss program is slow but it is safe and doesn’t lead your body to adverse side effects.
