Generic Adipex

What is generic Adipex?

First, let us start with the basics. Adipex is a popular diet pill for people who want to lose weight but need some help in suppressing their hunger pangs. Since the pill helps control their hunger pangs, this will allow dieters to be able to start eating less, making better food choices, thereby jumpstarting a successful weight loss program.

Now, on to the next part. Adipex, or generic Adipex? To give you a better understanding of the difference between generic and branded names, here is a short explanation. A pharmaceutical company develops a new drug, and the company gives it two names. The first name is its generic name – this represents the chemical form/structure of the drug. This name never changes. The second name given to it by the pharmaceutical company is its brand name, and it has nothing to do with the chemical form. So with this in mind, both the generic and Adipex basically contain the same active ingredient, which is phentermine hydrochloride. The only difference is that the generic adipex has different inactive ingredients, which might include fillers or dyes that might cause problems with certain persons who are sensitive, or prone to allergies.

But you must also remember that all generic medications undergo very rigid tests done by the U.S. Food and Administration (FDA) to compare them to the brand name medications. And if they can manage to be equal to the brand-name medications, then the FDA will rate them an “AA”. All of the generic phentermine 37.5 tablets and capsules have an “AA” rating. Various drug companies, like Actavis, Inc and Lannett Company, Inc manufacture generic Adipex. And since the generic Adipex has an “AA” rating, dieters all over the world notice that the generic brand is just as effective as the branded one. And since generic medicine is much cheaper than the name brands, a smart shopper will opt to buy the generic brand in this case. Generic Adipex is quite popular, even outselling Meridia, and Xenical.

To tell the difference between the branded and generic Adipex, check out the packaging. The brand name Adipex comes in two forms – tablet and capsules. The capsules are blue and white, with the word Adipex-P stamped on the blue part of the capsule, and two black bands are on the white part of the capsule. The tablet, on the other hand is oval in shape, with tiny blue dots, and the word Adipex-P on its surface. Adipex-P has 37.5 mg of phentermine.

The generic adipex, or Phentermine also comes in tablet and capsule form. But the capsules come in different color combinations, like orange and grey, blue and white, or yellow and grey. Its tablet form is very close in resemblance to Adipex-P. The only difference is there are letters and numbers on the surface- “k25” and “MP273”. Also with the generic brand, there are different amounts of phentermine to choose from, be it 8, 15, or 30 mgs.
